Abstract

Seedlings of Schima wallichi with ectomycorrhizae formed by Boletus edulis, and Suillus bovinus were studied in field condition. The seedlings of Schima wallichi were inoculated with these ectomycorrhizal fungi using pure culture technique. The study was conducted at two different degree of degraded sites. Study showed that in both the fileds the Schima wallichii seedlings had better survival and growth with Boletus edulis compared with non-inoculated seedlings and seedlings inoculated with Suillus bovinus. Findings of the present study revealed that these ectomycorrhizal fungi can successfully colonize and promote growth of Schima wallichii in the degraded lands of this region.
