Abstract

The article presents the results of the study on salt and wilt tolerance in different ecological and geographical cotton germplasm. Based on the results, the germplasm lines were divided into several groups in accordance with the resistance levels. Resistant and unstable genotypes were found in all the studied ecological-geographical groups, but there was difference in the frequency of distribution. As a result of environmental tests, a number of G. hirsutum L. genotypes showing promise for selection in various ecological-geographical groups were identified. A screening was carried out to study the degree of resistance to wilt and salt tolerance in 400 genotypes of cotton and highly resistant genotypes to wilt were identified viz., three varieties from Uzbekistan (А-1431, А-1530 and А-3941), one variety from China (A-3761), one genotype from Pakistan (A-3684) and three varieties from India (A-3657, A-3401 and A-3400). Genotypes of cotton and highly resistant genotypes to salt tolerance; six varieties from Uzbekistan (A-36, A-492, A-740, A-775 A-807, A-501), two varieties from India (A-2059 and A-2321), one genotype from Armenia (A-385), one genotype from Ukraine (A-2154) and three genotypes from Azerbaijan (A-1892, A-564 and A-2219), which can be used as donors for selection of wilt and salt resistant cotton varieties.
