This study explores the relationship between organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) and teachers'
career success in the Malaysian teaching setting. This research has analysed two aspects of teacher’
career success which are number of promotions and career satisfaction. The study also discusses the
role of justice as a moderating variable in relations to OCB and career success in three justice
dimensions called distributive justice, procedural justice, and interactional justice. Data were obtained
by mail from 390 respondents. The first findings presented that OCB is not significantly related to both
number of promotions and career satisfaction. The second findings revealed that all dimensions of
justice were found to be the predictor of career satisfaction, but not the number of promotions. This
study also provides an evidence that the relationship between OCB and number of
promotions, as well as career satisfaction were interacting strongly with distributive justice. This study
has contributed some new knowledge to the Ministry of Education (MOE), to the improvement of the
level of OCB, justice and career success for teachers, particularly in the Malaysian context.
