Abstract

Acid phosphatase (AcPase) was histochemically localised in various splenic tissue of nulliparous and parous bats to determine the importance of this enzyme as 'marker' for change in the metabolic states of spleen during the two reproductive states of T. m. melanopogon. Significant differences in the order of abundance of AcPase were seen in the red pulp, white pulp, stroma and germinal centers. This is discussed in relation to gestation.
