Abstract

So far, extended research on CFAs from Greece has been carried out, referred on several aspects such as their content of radioactive isotopes, trace elements and PAHs, utilization in engineering works, use in agriculture, waste management, behavior, and leachability of trace elements, production of synthetic zeolites, influence on soil properties and plant growth. Therefore, it is considered that there is adequate information on the utilization alternatives of this inevitable by-product from lignite combustion. The objective of this study was thus the synoptic presentation of the achievements of this research comparatively with the same issues in the main CFA producers countries in the world and with suggestions of the perspectives of the CFA application in Greece.
